Waveform Manager Opt-P adds power quality analysis capability to your bench top or field service digital oscilloscope. These features together with the innate transient capture capabilities of your scope give you the tools to quickly detect, analyze and document difficult power quality problems both in the plant and in the lab.

Waveform Manager Opt-P works with the data from your scope to analyze voltage and current waveforms taken together. Using Harmonic analysis, the program extracts harmonic magnitudes for both the voltage and current waveform as well as power summary information like Power Factor, True power, Phase and True power at selected harmonics.  Display voltage/current waveform pairs from multiple phases in separate windows with measurements that span all windows.

If the problem you are studying is intermittent, you can configure the program to log measurements to a file on a schedule you specify. Or if wave shape is important, configure the program to log waveforms instead… either on a schedule or when the scope triggers on a transient. Import all files later into a single 3D data set for visualization and analysis.

Ease your power converter design with measurement features like Rise Time and Peak volts. Or use the instantaneous power measurement to measure the average power over just the portion of the waveforms between cursors. For measurements on complex waveforms, flexible screen cursors help you get the waveform information you need.

Waveform Manager Opt-P adds to the the many features of Waveform Manager Pro, making documentation of power system problems a snap.

Waveform Manager Pro and Opt P are compatible with a growing list of popular digital field service oscilloscopes. Translation facilities provide for exchange of waveforms and scope setups between most supported scope models.

Cursor Measurements

Four full-screen cursors (2 X, 2 Y) with 13 corresponding measurements
Cursors can be used to gate waveform measurements.
Results can be displayed as data fields and in a customizable toolbar.

 

Harmonic Analysis

Up to 50 bands
Magnitude, phase, % of fundamental, % of total RMS and frequency for each harmonic. Calculates RMS value of all harmonics, total RMS, fundamental frequency, K factor, THD-F, THD-R.
Display as table or bar chart

Power Measurements

Display and log power measurements from scopes connected to one voltage and one current probe. Measurements include:

File Formats

Document Files - Bundle all information and save to individual Waveform Manager Document "WFD" files. Keyword search facility provides for easy recall.
Waveform Files - Import/export in common waveform file formats including ISF, CSV, BWV and WFM. Export in user defined text formats.
Picture Files - Import/export in BMP, PNG, JPEG, EMF formats. Pictures can be embedded in Document files with annotation.
Measurement Log Files - Log multiple meter measurements into ASCII text files. Import and display as waveform files.

Clipboard Support/Drag and Drop

Select a display window and press the Copy toolbar button to send a picture of the window to the clipboard. Or drag and drop it directly into another application in either DIB (bitmap) or EMF (metafile) format.

Copy individual waveforms to the clipboard as pictures and data tables.

Screen Grab

Generic screen grab facility works with any instrument that prints screen pictures through a serial or GPIB port to an Epson ESC/P2 or HP PCL III printer. Program converts ESC/P2 and PCL codes to bitmap and displays in Image Window.  Bitmap image data (not ESC/P2 or PCL) can be exported.  ESC/P2 and PCL data can be imported and displayed. 

Program also can emulate an HP 7475 (HPGL) plotter. HPGL is displayed in vector format in the image window.  Pen colors can be specified and changed after plot is acquired.  For GPIB operations 7475 emulator can function in either Talk/Listen or Listen Only mode.  HPGL data import/export is supported.

 

Automatic Refresh

Transfers waveforms, measurements or screen images from locations you specify, or from all currently displayed locations. Can perform transfers when the scope triggers, or repeatedly with 1s to 24Hr wait time between. Can be used in conjunction with Capture to File for event logging based on trigger events, or for measurement logging. Also can be used with Screen Grab to automatically update display each time a print job is initiated from the instrument.

Capture To File

Saves waveforms transferred from an instrument into separately numbered files based on a seed name you supply. One file is saved after each transfer except for group transfers where waveforms may optionally be saved to separate files. Number of files is adjustable up to 10,000. File formats include WFD, BMP, PNG, JPEG, EMF.

Can also capture designated measurements in multiple columns to a single measurement log "TXT" file each time a waveform or measurement transfer occurs.

Printing

Print using any printer that has Windows support. You can suppress the printing of background colors, or convert the entire image to monochrome, for excellent results with laser and dot matrix printers. Using Print Preview you can adjust the size and location of the printed image on the page, and view colors and proportions as they will appear.

Easy Installation

Program identifies the currently connected instrument and automatically configures the serial port for successful communication. All of the user's guide is also available in the on-line help.

System Requirements

IBM PC or compatible; Win 98SE, 2000, NT 4.0, ME, XP, Vista. One serial port, GPIB interface or Ethernet adapter for instrument connection. GPIB interfaces supported include National Instruments (NI drivers required) and Prologix (3.x, 4.x, drivers included).. Ethernet requires Tektronix TekVisa or National Instruments VISA drivers.
